We are a very informal group. As you can see from the picture above our “dress code” is one of dress nice but comfortable.
Here are some things you can expect when you visit us on a typical Sunday morning worship service: We believe all of the service is “worship” from the singing of praise to our Lord Jesus through giving back to Him during the offering time and hearing from Him during the sermon in which He informs our minds and inflames our hearts.
Preaching the Word
Sermons are typically about 40-45 minutes in length and expositional in nature. As the Bible is God’s revelation to us about Himself most often we are working our way through individual books of the Bible. Occasionally we will break from a book series to deal with a thematic issue based on Scripture like marriage or parenting. Our lead pastor is the primary teacher for the church but occasionally one of our elders or other pastors will teach as well. We have Bibles available in each pew, but encourage you to bring your own Bible to the service as you will find yourself waking through it with the teaching. We typically preach from the English Standard Version, but we do not exclusively use the ESV.
We use primarily what you would call “contemporary” styled music. But not cutting edge contemporary styled music. We believe the most important thing about what we sing is what we say. So we choose songs that are saturated with scripture whether they be new songs or older songs so that we can sing God’s word back to Him.
This is the current music setting for corporate worship at Grace. On a typical Sunday we support the singing of the church with a band that features adequately amplified guitars, piano, keyboard, and drums. Our goal is to create sounds and rhythms that appropriately frame and give musical life to the words that we are singing. When appropriate and necessary our singing will be high energy, fast tempo, backed with full instrumentation. At other times, our singing will be prayerful, reflective, with limited support from the band.Whether old or new, we aim for the content and truth of our songs to take precedent over style and popularity.
We are a family-friendly church. We want you to feel comfortable having your children participate in the worship service. While we have many great childcare and children’s church options, we encourage you to have your kids join you for all or part of the worship service.
Our body is made up of a broad range of people from different stages of life. You will find families, empty-nesters, college singles, retirees, and young people all worshiping together. We feel that it is important for those of different generations to worship and grow together.
Child Care Options
We offer nursery and preschool ministry for children ages 0 – 5 in our children’s wing of the church. We encourage children ages 3+ to join us in worship before being dismissed to Children’s Church during the sermon. Your child will be greeted by their teacher at the back of the worship center when they are dismissed. More on our children’s ministry and childcare options.
We want to be a place where believers can come to grow both spiritually and relationally. We recognize as a church that once a week large worship gatherings are not enough to sustain your walk with Jesus. So you will experience a constant encouragement from us to have you get more connected to the body through joining one of our many Life Groups where you will get an opportunity to truly live out your Christian life with other believers and both share and experience all the “one anothers” of Scripture.
We also want to encourage you to begin this connection by sticking around after the service for a time of coffee, doughnuts, and conversation with others in the church.
