Let me take this opportunity to invite every one of you to our upcoming Men’s Retreat at Crystal Springs Baptist Camp from Friday 3 May to Sunday 5 May. Come and join us for what is sure to be a remarkable time together with each other and with our God.
To those men who may not yet have a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ but have felt some desire to find out what all this Jesus talk is about, I invite you, and I welcome you. That desire you are feeling is a result of the work of the Holy Spirit awakening something deep inside you, something every human is born with. We all have a desire to be known by God, a desire which we cannot fully comprehend until we are reconciled with and adopted by the God who created us. I urge you to come and surround yourself with other men who have traveled this road before you and can testify to the wonders to be found in knowing our Holy God.
To those men who are new in their relationship with Jesus, I invite you to come. I invite you to enhance your newfound peace the passes all understanding by adding some understanding to the peace you now experience. Come and find out what it means to live a life dedicated to God and abiding in His Son Jesus Christ. Be surrounded with fellow brothers who have traveled the road you are on and can help you make sense of your faith and develop disciplines and habits to get the most out of who God created you to be in the time and place He put you.
To those men who are not new in their relationship with Jesus, yet feel distant from Him, I invite you to come. You may have forgotten that special sense of wonderment and excitement that you had when you first encountered Jesus. The day to day grind of this fallen and broken world may have worn you down. But God, in his infinite wisdom has provided you with His Word and fellow travelers who can help you recharge your spiritual batteries if given the chance. Give them that chance; come.
To those who men who are mature in their relationship with Jesus, I invite you to come. You have learned the value of fellowship with brothers and can add so much to the experience of those who are traveling behind you on their journey, and continue yourself to develop (or renew) that love you experienced at first when you came to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. Your personal journey, shared with others, can go a long way in helping a fellow brother navigate their way to or through their own faith walk.
To those older men who are walking with God in expectation of your eternal life with Him, I invite you to come. There is nothing better for the seeker, newcomer, distant, or mature Christian brother than to see and spend time with those men who have spent their lives learning what it means to walk with God. Your faithfulness to your Lord and Savior has been noticed and is being noticed by other brothers. Please come and share your wisdom with us. It will greatly benefit us and refresh you anew.
Humbly in His Service,
Marty “Fellow Traveler” Bruns
