Church Family –
We are excited to be able to share with you our plan for resuming in-person gatherings. In addition to multiple conversations among the elders, we have assembled a committee that has met to discuss and provide recommendations on how and when to gather again. Below is the fruit of those discussions.
We recognize that there are different views as to when it is appropriate to regather in person. Some think that we should wait, while others believe we should have begun earlier. Likewise there are different views on what preventative measures are necessary. As we come back together, please do so in the spirit of Ephesians 4:1-3, which says:
Walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Please read the following closely, as it will provide important information and set expectations about how we are going to regather.
SMALL GROUPS & BIBLE STUDIES
Small groups, Bible studies, and other small gatherings are encouraged to begin meeting together again as soon as the leaders and the group members are comfortable doing so.
If you lead a group that will begin meeting in the church again, please coordinate with the church office to allow us to space out gatherings as well as to prepare a room and arrange for cleaning after.
If you have a desire to start a new small group or Bible study, please contact Pastor Clay.
Our plan is to return to in-person worship services on Sunday, June 7 at 9:30 AM. This date will allow for final preparations to be made and the remaining necessary supplies to arrive.
As of now, we believe that we can accommodate everyone in a single service while allowing for social-distancing guidelines to be observed. If circumstances dictate, we will make adjustments to this plan.
In order to adhere to those guidelines as closely as possible, every other pew will be blocked off. Family groups are encouraged to sit together while maintaining appropriate distance between them and other households.
If and when the worship center becomes full, ushers will direct people to sit in the overflow seating area. The seating here will be set up to allow for distance between groups.
If and when the overflow also becomes full, ushers will direct people to the Fellowship Hall. The sermon will be broadcast live on the TV and the chairs will be spaced out far enough to maintain social distancing between household groups.
If you are not yet ready to gather together in person, or you are at increased risk of health complications due to COVID-19, we will be providing a livestream of the service beginning June 7. More information on that livestream is available in the FAQ section below.
Childcare & Children’s Classes
As of now, there will be no childcare or children’s classes available. Please come with the expectation that there will be all ages in the service. We are planning on providing activity pages for children to utilize during the service. We will keep you informed on when we will be able to resume offering childcare and children’s classes.
Please note: As you are aware, the COVID-19 situation has the potential to change. If circumstances require, adjustments to this plan may need to be made in the future.
The safety of our church family and our community is a top priority. While we can never completely eliminate the risk of the spread of COVID-19, we have taken appropriate measures to mitigate that risk as much as possible. These measures include the following steps:
- The entire church has been cleaned and disinfected in accordance with CDC guidelines
- Hand sanitizing stations will be available at several points throughout the building
- We will be forgoing our typical stand and greet time during the service. We encourage you to limit physical contact and give one another space
- High-touch surfaces will be cleaned before, during, and after the service
- If you or someone in your household has been sick, we ask that you would watch the service at home
- Doors will be propped open, bulletins will not be handed out, and we will use an offering box instead of passing the plates to limit passing things back and forth
- There will be no coffee or donuts provided at this time
- After the service is over, everything will be cleaned and disinfected in preparation for next week
When you come into the church building you will note that there will be a number of areas and rooms that are unavailable. This is to reduce the amount of work needed to clean the facility after we gather. Please do not enter areas that are blocked off or utilize rooms that have been closed.
Are masks going to be required?
No, we are not requiring the use of facemasks. Those who choose to wear one are welcome to do so, and we will have a limited amount of masks on hand should you like one.
Will there be singing?
Yes! We will be having congregational singing when we gather.
Will there be an online option available?
Yes. Beginning June 7 we will begin sharing a livestream of the service for those who are not yet ready or able to join us in person.
Watch for more details on this, but you can expect it to be available Sunday mornings at 9:30 on Facebook, YouTube, and on our website.
How long will these precautions and changes remain in effect?
It is not our intent for the above precautions and logistical changes to be the ‘new normal.’ We will continue to evaluate the situation and reduce the precautions as soon as it is wise and safe to do so.
Will there be Enrichment Hour classes?
Our Enrichment Hour classes were already scheduled to have wrapped up for the summer, and we will not be starting new classes just yet. We will keep you informed when new classes will begin.
When will the evening service resume?
The date for resuming our monthly evening service is still being determined. We will share this information as soon as we have it.
